Carey Mulligan looks every bit the Roaring Twenties-era siren in the May issue of US Vogue. The star of the upcoming Baz Luhrmann flick The Great Gatsby graces the cover in a stunning lime-green Oscar de la Renta gown and lavish jewels which hits newsstands in the US on April 23rd. The Mario Testino shoot perfectly captures Mulligan in 1920s-esque flapper gowns and headpiece adornments.

We couldn’t have put it better ourselves.

We couldn’t have put it better ourselves.

Sunday March 24th saw the first and private showing of Dubai’s newest addition to the social scene - The ACT and Involver went along for a peek. Jude Law, Jodie Kidd and creator Simon Hammerstein  attended alongside friends and guests before the official opening tonight, Thursday 28th March 2013.

The ACT concept roots from it’s debaucherous cousin, (The Box) in London and after opening in 2012 in Las Vegas, we’re now excited to see the tamer version in Dubai. But don’t write it off as yet another big name swooping into Dubai, we were impressed. Unlike the other theatre clubs we’d been to recently The ACT has edge, more like a rockstar version of the theatre club set. It’s not a circus and it’s not caberet, you feel like you’re part of the bohemian artist movement, with acts jumping onstage to outdo each other in all their strange glory, which is not a bad thing at all.

The ACT gets our vote and we’re interested to see how Dubai takes her on.

The ACT opens tonight March 29th 2013 - Level 42, Shangri-La Hotel Dubai. Lift entrance is located on the rear side of the hotel and contact +97152 8119900 for information and reservations.

We’ve been busy bees in March organising and shooting Involver Luxury Group's teaser for seVen(TM) - The Haute Couture Experience. Here are a few behind the scenes snaps taken on our mini office camera, official pictures to come out soon. Let us know what you think.

seVen(TM) aims to highlight Middle Eastern Haute Couture onto the world stage whilst supporting local business, Arabic culture and charities. For more information about seVen(TM) or to participate as a Designer or Partner contact connect@involvergroup.com.

We’d also like to send a massive thank you to Desert Fish Photography, Peter Richweisz (Director), Valentina from Wilhelmina Models New York, So Famous Dubai, JoJo (Make Up), Elmer (Photography) and of course Amato Haute Couture

Vogue's digitally-focused April Issue is out now and who better to front it than social media master, Miranda Kerr? The Aussie supermodel has a whopping 3.6 million followers on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter combined and cleverly uses her new media channels to support her charitable causes, spruik her KORA skincare line and share pervy snaps from her glamorous life. The latest Vogue shoot, shot by Miguel Reveriego and styled by Natasha Royt, plays up this glamour-puss side of MK  with the brunette beauty modelling some seriously ladylike looks from the latest Spring/Summer ‘13 collections courtesy of Prada, Christian Dior and Saint Laurent.

There’s also a cute behind-the-scenes video which features Miranda’s son Flynn Bloom, who was on set — he’s seen lying around taking in the action as his supermodel mum gets to work.

We do love ourselves a Splash Fashion show and their first show of 2013 didn’t disappoint. As always it’s not about the fashion but the show and the infamous after party. Bollywood actor Salman Khan also made an appearance.

Big production, a very late start, people whining about a late start and these same people lapping up the free grog (go figure), exaggerated styling, the Filipino Fashion Mafia and a debaucherous after party all make for a fabulous Splash evening.

Involver attended the launch of cARTel at Desert Fish Studio recently and were impressed with the teams dedication to provide wearable art. True visionaries. Michael Cinco also made an appearance.

I love how The cARTel are pushing boundaries and attempting to do something new. Attending events with the same look and feel for what are meant to be different brands is getting a bit so so, this launch was different. Thank you cARTel, Desert Fish and the very talented Peter Richweisz. I look forward to the next installment.

Our Involver Communications Director Renée with Anna and Emma at the Chivas Legends Dinner. The spectacular event took place on the 5th of December 2012 at the Armani Hotel in the Burj Khalifa and was attended by over 250 prominent leaders of Dubai’s business and media communities. Guests enjoyed a truly regal experience, indulging in a sumptuous 4 course meal, accompanied by the complete collection of Chivas expressions. The evening pinnacled with an immensely engaging and entertaining on-stage interview with legendary, Oscar winning actor, Sir Ben Kingsley followed by a tasting of Chivas 25 years old led by Chivas Master Blender, Colin Scott. Well done Contemporary Connoisseurs on a fantastic evening. More pictures here.
